Lauryn Tully is the founder and managing attorney of the Law Office of Lauryn Tully, a criminal defense firm based in Colorado Springs that serves clients across Colorado. Since founding the firm in 2019, Lauryn has experience building holistic defense teams to better support clients comprised of attorneys, paralegals, social workers, investigators, and interns who work together to defend both juvenile and adult clients. Lauryn has handled thousands of cases, ranging from traffic violations and misdemeanors to serious felonies and homicide.
Lauryn's passion for criminal defense began in law school at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California. As a certified legal intern at the Yolo County Public Defender's Office, she drafted and argued motions and conducted misdemeanor trials. As a certified law student attorney at the Office of the Federal Defender for the Eastern District of California, she argued for a not guilty verdict in a federal trial. After graduating, Lauryn was recruited to begin her career as a Public Defender in the Colorado Springs office. She then worked as an associate attorney in private practice before opening her own firm, driven by her commitment to personalized client service and justice.
Today, Lauryn represents clients in complex cases across multiple Colorado counties, including adult homicides and cases where juveniles face adult charges through direct file and transfer proceedings. She is a contract attorney and mentor with the Office of the Alternate Defense Counsel (ADC), where she supervises and mentors newly contracted attorneys in holistic defense. She also serves as a contract Guardian ad Litem and a Certified Direct File and Transfer Guardian ad Litem with the Office of the Child's Representative. In those roles, she ensures young people have a consistent voice in court.
Known as a dedicated trial attorney, Lauryn is unafraid to present her clients' stories boldly before the court and jury. She believes every client deserves a defense built around who they are, not just what they are charged with.
Lauryn is committed to improving the justice system for youth and adults alike. She holds a nomincation as a presidential appointment to the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar Board (CCDB) and serves as a Member-at-Large on the Colorado Bar Association's Juvenile Law Section Board. She has also presented at various statewide trainings on adult and juvenile defense.
Something unique about Lauryn is that members of her family have served in four different branches of the military, across various wars. Coming from a military family, Lauryn deeply appreciates the service and sacrifices of those in uniform, which informs her commitment to serving her community with integrity and respect. Additionally, Lauryn is passionate about helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, inspired by her brother, who was diagnosed with autism at an early age.
